I realized what the people in my internship have to deal with everyday. Constant barking of the dogs, also cleaning up every 5 minutes. I don't know how they deal with it everyday.
I Saw that they always had a smile on their face, they always greeted the clients with joy. I need to do that more, have a smile on my face more often and be more positive. I'm usually grumpy looking and I look mad most of the time. I now know how it feels like to have a job but what I've been doing is a bit easier. This experience has given me some insight on the real world. I don't think it would have impacted my career choices but if I wanted to work with dogs again I definitely would. You can fool around sometimes but when it comes to work you should be serious. This also happens at school but it's stricter at work. Also for my particular internship the co-workers have to tell each other if a dog is acting strange or to look out for other stuff. I helped out in mostly all of the places in the store, If someone wasn't in a room I would have watched the dogs. If the laundry wasn't done I would have done it.
I can't really compare my work to school but I can manage my school work better. It gave me more time management skills because I had to wake up in the mornings earlier than I'm used to and I also needed to manage my time after school. I have practice for soccer and I also have games. If I had a game I would come in at 7 and leave at 2 so I could make it to the game. I wanted to show everyone what I witness everyday. My mentor told me that there was a program on her computer that lets me make a cube with pictures on it. I was excited because I knew I wanted to take pictures of the dogs. She later told me that the program wouldn't work so I came up with making an album of all the dogs and putting it in the front of the desk so all of the clients can see it. I later got great news again that I can in fact do the cube idea and I just started working on it. I learned that I really like dogs. Before this internship I wouldn't have pet a dog but now I can compare the dogs with the dogs from my internship. I have the patience to take multiple pictures of a dog. You need to keep on calling them to get their attention and also they keep moving around, so many times the pictures come out blurry. I can't really think of what we can replicate from my internship. I mean I guess just try being available a lot of the time. I can ask anyone in my internship a question and they'll know the answer. That rarely happens in school.
I'll be a happier person and I can have more fun with my peers. For my schedule I can manage my school work better and get things done on time. Also to set an alarm for when I need to do my homework. DANIEL GARCIA - Daniel I think it's really great that you got an internship relating to what you like doing. From what I see it looks like you have a pretty chill internship. It's great to know what you have been up to. Good luck with the rest of the month! STEVEN CARROLL - Wow! I didn't think your internship would be as much as you make it sound. It seems that you are really enjoying your time there. I hope you keep up the good work and goo luck with your project! CARTIER CONLEY - Cartier it looks like you've been doing a very great job. I feel like you and your mentor aren't really as close as other interns would be. I think it's really fun having people that you know in the same internship. Well good luck with everything. After reading everyones blog posts I'm just really glad they have been enjoying themselves. So far everyone has a project idea that sounds great.
The difference is that I'm experiencing new things and making a project of my own.
My week I feel is the same as any school week, it feels the same because it's the same school hours. The difference is that I have to be more focused with the dogs because one second they can be playing and the other they can start fighting. I have to be responsible with my sleep schedule because I can't be late. Also while i'm in my lunch break I have to eat a bit faster because I get a 30 minute break instead of my usual 45. I haven't been late at all so I think I have good time management. I think internship can help me with my life because it's showed me how to enjoy everything I have. I can be a happier and nicer person instead of my usual grumpy self. I think I will be making a photo album of each of the dogs. I'm not sure if I will make a full page on one of the dogs or just one picture of each dog. I will have to talk to my mentor to further my understanding of my project. Originally I was going to use this program on the computer to make a cube filled with six pictures of a dog. After that process I would have printed it out and formed the cube. Sadly the program was updated to the computer available cannot do it. For my album I will post pictures of the album later on.
Everyday I will be in this room full of small dogs. Sometimes i'm standing up and sometimes i'm sitting on this little plank of wood. I also go in the back of the daycare and do some laundry and fold clothes. I work monday through friday, 8 to 3. My first friday at my internship was very relaxing, for the most part. Other than the dogs barking when people walked by it was pretty quiet. After my lunch break another dog arrived. That's when things started to get noisy. He started playing with one of his friends and it woke most of the dogs up from their slumber. He also wanted to play with me. If I was playing with other dogs he would start barking which caused the rest of the dogs to bark in a domino effect. Besides that doggy everything ran smoothly, I got introduced to a few new dogs and they loved me!
I will be working with dogs! Even if I don't have one, this experience might make me consider getting a dog of my own. I might be nervous because I will also be working with the big dogs at the daycare. Since I'm not completely comfortable with dogs yet, I hope my internship can let me be myself. First Impressions Provide a detailed reflection of your first impressions thus far at your internship site. I actually thought I wasn't going to be doing anything. I soon realized I was wrong, I have to do quite a lot. I have to constantly be taking care of the dogs and cleaning up after them. For my first two days at my internship i've been doing some laundry in the mornings, emptying mop buckets, and cleaning up after the dogs. There's not a really big problem with the internship, just that it stinks at first but you get used to it after a bit. Other than that there's constant barking from some little dogs and every time somebody passes by the stores. That's basically it, besides that I'm enjoying my first few days here. They take pictures of every dog in their daycare. Of all the project ideas, which seem most appealing and appropriate and why? We were going to make a box on the computer with pictures of a dog and give it to the owner to take home. How could this project idea be authentic, rigorous, and connected to the company's purpose and/ or mission? It has never been done and it would take quite some work to keep the dogs still for the picture. The purpose is to show that we care and giving the owners the box without even knowing they are receiving it will show how much we care about each dog. What kind of support and skills will be required to ensure the project is successful? Who might be able to help support you in completing the project? I think that everyone who works there can help me with taking the pictures and creating the boxes. How might you present this project as part of the Internship Presentation of Learning?
